Why Buy a Prefab Garage

Prefab garages are easier and less expensive to construct than a traditional garage.  They can be built in much less time, as they come in large pieces that can be put together very quickly.  Prefabricated garages are a great way to make your garage beautiful, and many of these floor plans are extremely attractive.  The floor plans for prefab garages are already thought out, so it costs a lot less to do it this way than building one on your own.  Prefab garage kits will vary in cost, depending on where you buy them, the area you live in, the brand, size, and amenities.  A garage kit may range anywhere from $1000 to $6000, depending on many factors.  You can easily make many different changes to your kit, so you can fit a prefab garage into your budget.

Constructing A Prefab Garage

Before you buy a prefabricated garage kit, decide whether you want to assemble it on your own, or whether you want to hire someone to do it.  It depends on whether you want to save a bit of money, or save yourself the hassle.  If you decide to have a local contractor put it together, you can have the assurance that they are doing it correctly, and you can get this in writing, as well.  While it will cost you more to have someone do it for you, it may be easier on you to have someone else do it.  Just make sure that the contractor knows what he is doing, and that this isn’t the first time he has worked with a prefabricated garage.  If you do plan on doing it on your own, then you need to look at the floor space that is required.  It will depend on what you are planning to use the garage for to determine how large it should be.

Storage

Those who plan to use their prefab garages for simply storing their cars, trucks, yard tools, and lawnmowers will probably do well with a straightforward type of design.  This means that you can look at the least expensive prefab garages, and save yourself some money in the process.  However, when you are trying to build a new garage for other reasons, such as for a workshop or extra storage space, you may need to look into ventilation and electric issues.  Remember that almost all prefab garages will only be the garage itself.  It will not come with electric service or flooring.   You will also need to choose the type of garage door that you need, the style of the roof, windows, and the materials that you will be using to put everything together.  All these choices will impact the final cost of your garage, so be sure to get all your prices ahead of time.  You do not want to go over your budget and not be able to complete your garage.

Garage Doors

When you choose garage doors, you can find them in a variety of different makes, models, and materials.  You may want to choose a garage door carefully for your prefab garage, especially if you plan on storing high priced items in there.  If you are looking at prefab wood garages, then you may decide to choose a wooden garage door to match the outside.  Again, check out the various prices for garage doors, as the more expensive ones can really add on to your budget.  You can choose prefabricated garages that hold anywhere from one to five cars, depending on the sizes of the vehicles that you plan on storing.

Advantages Of Prefab Garages

Many people still have misgivings when it comes to buying a prefab garage. A lot of people think that they are not sturdy, are cheaply made, and will not hold up well.  However, you can look at the many pros of buying a prefab garage to help make your decision.  First, the plans are already well drawn and put together.  You will have everything you need to put a prefab garage together yourself, if you so choose.  You may not even need a permit to build one, as you would with a regular garage.  However, you should check with your local town or county before you build a prefab garage, just to make sure.  Another great aspect of these prefabricated garages is the price, which is why so many people choose them.  They are much cheaper than building a garage from materials, and so much better than hiring a construction company to do it.  This is one of the main reasons for buying prefabricated garages, because of the price difference alone.

Prefab garages come in many different sizes, shapes, and even colors.  They can be designed to match your existing exterior on your home, as well.  The structures for these garages are made out of solid materials, such as galvanized steel and aluminum.  Tie down anchors help hold the whole structure on the ground, and are reinforced with extremely strong screws. It is important to remember, though, that the excavation of your garage floor, as well as the footings and flooring itself, will also cost you money.  Prefabricated garages are still an excellent way to get the garage that you need, for a lower price.

Amish Prefab Garages

Amish prefab garages are also another option to consider when you are looking to build your own garage.  The Amish make extremely high quality items and work hard to ensure that their products are safe.  Many Amish brand garages have additional amenities included, such as wider doors, a tractor ramp, pressure treated floors, weather vanes, and much more.  Choosing Amish prefab garages is a good idea for those who may be using the garage for farming purposes, or who live near Amish communities and want to help support their community.  The Amish can easily custom design your prefab garage to your specifications, and even come on site to help build it with you.  You may get an excellent deal when you use the Amish garages for your needs.
